  • How and what it is like to mee people from other cultures
  • How to take care of your health and safety while travelling
  • How to exchange US money into foreign currency
  • How to travel on a budget

The World Travel 101 for Girls is offered at the same time as the World Travel 101 for Adults workshop.

When: March 7, 2009

Register through Girl Scouts Council Office or schedule an event for 20 or more people on a different date directly with Jennifer Bullock at girlscouts@oregonhostels.org.

Do you live outside of the Portland area and find it hard to come in for the day to participate in this workshop? Turn this into an overnight trip with your troop and sign up for the World Travel 101/Sharing Meals overnight at the HI-Portland, Northwest hostel. Read on for more info!

World Travel 101/Sharing Meals Overnight for Troops (Overnight Program)

Participate in the World Travel 101 for Girl Scouts workshop (see above) and spend the night at the HI-Portland, Northwest hostel. Like travel, food has always been something that brings people together. Sharing Meals offers troops the chance to prepare a meal on their own to share with travelers. Whether you are cooking a pancake breakfast or a spaghetti dinner, we are excited that you and your troop have decided to share a meal with our other hostellers. Not only is it a great opportunity for the girls to interact with travelers from all over the world, but it’s also a chance for the girls to be ambassadors for their hometown, the USA and Girl Scouts. Meeting real, live American teens is always a special treat for our hostellers and a memorable experience for any traveler!

When: year-round; based on availability.

Reservations required (minimum of 12 people): Britta Diettrich, (503) 827-0405, girlscouts@nwportlandhostel.com.
