Become a Volunteer

  1. Contact your VISTA Membership Coordinator or the Girl Scout Council Office to request a Volunteer Application/Adult Membership form. Complete and send to the Girl Scout Council Office.

  2. Office conducts a background check and sends results to you.
  3. VISTA Chair or coordinator for your program will get in touch with you for a get-acquainted meeting.
  4. Congratulations! You are now a Girl Scout volunteer.
    Don’t forget membership registration must be done by this point.
  5. If you are you a new Troop Leader - Attend “VISTA Orientation” or complete the online course through the Council website.

    OR

    For volunteers in another Girl Scout position - You’ll receive training and when it’s completed, you’re ready to begin!
  6. Now it’s time to receive your Troop number and the list of interested girls for your Troop. You’re ready to begin!
    Remember – You must register to attend required training within 3 months of the time you start to meet with girls.

    Leader support system:
    • Council website to join the E-group for volunteers, and to explore resources for Leaders and girls.
    • Leader meetings – ask when and where they are held in your area.
    • Program Consultants and other mentors for Troop Leaders.
