Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie Blizzard Treats and Cakes now at Dairy Queen!
July 1, 2008
Beginning July 1, 2008, Dairy Queen's across the nation have been featuring a Girl Scout Thin Mint Blizzard Treat as their Blizzard of the month! This awesome treat is made up of creamy soft-serve, blended with Girl Scouts Thin Mint Cookie pieces and a crème de menthe topping! Dairy Queen will be celebrating Girl Scout Appreciation Week July 7-13th, and offering discounts to Girl Scout members throughout the month of July with a special coupon available in the Girl Scout Store!
This special partnership coordinated by GSUSA and DQ has drawn national attention through television commercials, local and national TV appearances (featured locally with Drew Carney and nationally on the Today Show), and quite a bit of print media attention. Dairy Queen's website features links to GSUSA drawing in Girls, Volunteers and Donors.
Are your Girls interested in learning more about DQ? Contact your local Dairy Queen to coordinate a "behind the scenes" look at DQ operations or to organize a "Blizzard making class", or invite your local DQ operator to talk with girls about what it takes to own and operate a business successfully.

ANDEO Homestays
Monday, April 28, 2008
ANDEO Homestays, a nonprofit student exchange organization based in Portland, is looking for host families for about a dozen French Girl Scouts - and they are still accepting student applications, so there may be more scouts on the way! Students range in age from 14-18 and will be staying with host families for 4 weeks throughout June, July and August. We have several programs so the dates of their stays vary; the first group arrives June 15th and the final group will be here for the month of August.
The French girls are coming to the US to improve their English and make new friends! We match host families with students based on age and shared interests. Some of the French students have a program of classes and activities during weekdays in downtown Portland (they can commute using public transportation). Other students are free to adjust to their host family’s daily schedule - they can even join in vacations and camps. No matter what the program, all students bring spending money, travel with a bilingual chaperone, and are covered by health insurance.
The flyer below contains profiles of a few of the Girl Scouts on the way, and a host family application. Please contact Emma at 503.274.1776 or emma@andeo.org or check the website www.andeo.org for more information about their programs.
